Growth Hormone

Sermorelin

GHRH (1-29) analog

The shortest active fragment of GHRH, studied for restoring more youthful, pulsatile GH secretion.

How it works

Sermorelin is the shortest active fragment of growth hormone releasing hormone, comprising the first 29 amino acids of the full sequence. It retains the ability to bind the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs, directly stimulating growth hormone synthesis and release.

Because sermorelin works upstream of the pituitary's own regulatory feedback loops, researchers note it preserves the body's natural negative-feedback control, reducing the likelihood of GH oversaturation compared with administering growth hormone directly.

Its short amino acid sequence has a long history of use as a diagnostic tool for growth hormone deficiency, and adult research has since extended to examining IGF-1 levels, sleep quality, and body composition changes over multi-month study periods.

What research has shown

Long-standing clinical use as a GH-deficiency diagnostic; adult studies report improved IGF-1, sleep quality and body composition over 3 to 6 months.

Reported ranges in the literature

Low end

100 to 200 mcg nightly

Optimal

200 to 300 mcg nightly

High end

500 mcg nightly

Frequency reported in the literature: Nightly before bed

Frequently asked questions

What is sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a GHRH (1-29) analog studied for stimulating the pituitary's own pulsatile growth hormone secretion.

How does sermorelin differ from tesamorelin?

Both are GHRH analogs, but tesamorelin includes a chemical modification that resists degradation and has dedicated trial data for visceral fat reduction, whereas sermorelin has a longer history as a diagnostic and general GH-axis research tool.

What does the research show?

Long-standing clinical use includes GH-deficiency diagnostics, and adult studies report improved IGF-1 levels, sleep quality, and body composition over 3 to 6 month periods.

How is sermorelin typically studied?

Published protocols generally describe nightly administration before sleep to align with the body's natural GH secretion pattern.

How long are research blocks typically?

Reported study designs range from 3 to 6 months to capture changes in IGF-1 and body composition markers.
